Undeniably, securing sustainability in batteries should not focus only on the end of life (EoL) but throughout the life cycle of the batteries. Additionally, the responsibility of establishing circularity in batteries should not depend solely on industries and producers but should involve consumers as well.
Batteries made from recycled materials reduce waste and promote a circular economy. Effective recycling reduces LIB manufacturing and disposal environmental impacts, conserves resources, and promotes a sustainable battery ecosystem (Kirchherr et al., 2017, Mendoza et al., 2017, Bocken et al., 2016).
Lithium-ion batteries offer a contemporary solution to curb greenhouse gas emissions and combat the climate crisis driven by gasoline usage.
