Zero-energy buildings have attracted interest worldwide as they consume less energy and can alleviate energy shortages caused by rapid economic development. This paper presents a review of the research and development regarding zero-energy buildings in China.
Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) is a promising solution for providing building energy and realizing net-zero energy buildings. Based on the developed mathematical model, this paper assesses the solar irradiation resources and BIPV potential of residential buildings in different climate zones of China.
Based on the above reasons, the Chinese government plans to vigorously promote the construction of photovoltaic system in rural areas, which has been included in the 14 th Five-Year Plan of renewable energy development. In the foreseeable future, rural photovoltaic system in China will achieve rapid and sustainable growth. Figure 4.
Given the low-density layout and high-intensity development of China’s residential blocks, China’s residential communities have great potential for solar energy development. However, while BIPV and SWH technologies have been applied on a large scale, related theoretical studies are relatively insufficient.
